I Love Fabric...

Josh went out on a teaching appointment with the missionaries last night, so i had a couple of hours alone and no desire or energy to attack the mountain of clean laundry waiting to be folded. Therefore, i spent the night browsing fabric websites, as well as craft and quilting tutorials. I ended up bookmarking quite a few, hoping to try them out someday. One of my favorite blogs for this is Cluck Cluck Sew.  I can't even remember where i stumbled upon this blog... it might have been while visiting a friend's blog. Anyway, branching off from this i found another great blog, Diary of a Quilter, which also has some excellent tutorials and sewing ideas!
Now all i need is the fabric.... ;)
i'm in a bit of a difficult position, because i live in an isolated town, far away from any decent fabric stores (i'm talking the ones that charge less than $15 a yard for solid flannel!!). This being the case, i do a lot of shopping online. It's difficult, because all the good fabrics come from shops in the states, and shipping and duty to Canada costs an arm and a leg! There are a couple of sites, Wazoodle and Kid's Fabrics, that are based in Canada and have decent prices, but selection is pretty limited. A little treasure i discovered, called LDS Fabric.com has some awesome fabrics, mostly in an LDS theme. But, being US based, shipping is expensive. Though, with some of these fabrics, it's worth it! ;)
But the one i was browsing yesterday, and a new favorite, is Connecting Threads. They are US based, but for Canadian orders, they drive across the border and ship it Canada Post, so it's nice and cheap! Their fabric is so beautiful - i've fallen in love with their Aqua Terra line, which has recently gone on sale! I may have to put in an order...

There are tons of really great fabrics at www.thequiltedcastle.com and shipping to canada is only about $13 per order. depending on how much you buy. But still cheaper than any of the fabric stores around here. Another one is www.fabricworm.com
