Five Whole Years!!

I wish i had taken some pictures yesterday! But you'll have to muddle through another picture-less blog, i'm afraid. *sad face*
Yesterday was the fifth anniversary of our wedding! The day didn't start out great - i got about four hours of sleep and woke up with a migraine and a sick stomach. As the day went on, things didn't much improve. I tried to keep the house tidy and get the dishes done (though feeling sick and dizzy, i didn't get through it all). All our money had been spent on our trip to Edmonton at the beginning of the week, so we were anticipating an evening at home, though hadn't quite decided what we were going to do yet. I was thinking about how to cook the pork chops for dinner, and feeling more and more that i REALLY didn't want to cook, and i wasn't much in the mood for pork chops.
But i was looking forward to having a few hours alone with Josh, even if we were just at home.
We visited our friends first, saying our last goodbyes, as they are moving out to Calgary today. *tear*
Then we dropped the kids off at another friend's for the evening. We had a few generous offers to watch the kids for us, and we opted to send him over to his friend Corgan's house, because it was his birthday and he wanted to have friends over to play. They even fed the kids, so i didn't have to!
We went back home so i could make myself presentable, then went for a walk. Josh had mentioned earlier, to my everlasting delight, that we could splurge a little and go out for dinner. So we walked over to Wholesome Jo's, a restaurant neither of us had been to before. The menu was very limited, just a hand-written list of the foods they were serving that evening, but the food was AMAZING!! We got there just in time to snag the last two steaks, which were perfectly barbecued. The veggies and salad greens all came from her garden, and the dressings and croutons were homemade! They mentioned that aside from their "Gluten Free" salad dressings, pretty much everything they serve is made by them! As for the price (i was nervous, because they didn't have prices on the "menu" they gave us), it was quite decent. I would guess our steaks were at least 10 ounces, and we had potato wedges and salads, and Josh had some roasted asparagus, they worked out to around $17 each. I'd expect to pay that much for a steak dinner at any restaurant, and for the quality of THIS dinner, i'd've been willing to pay more! The only downside was that our Jones Sodas we had to drink were about $3 each, so i think next time i'll have water.
Fat and happy, we walked over to O's Ice Cream Shop for dessert, and i packed away a single scoop cone, even though i was full (it was for the baby, i promise! heehee...). Then we started walking home, and figured we might as well stop by the Baran's and pick up the kids so we could put them to bed. We ended up visiting for a while, which was very nice. The Missionaries showed up later, and Janet brought out Corgan's Ice Cream Cake and passed slices around. Still WAY too full, i declined a piece, though Josh happily accepted.
The visit was very nice, and the kids had a lot of fun together. When i finally went to gather the kids to go home, i found Riley upstairs with Corgan's ENORMOUS wooden train set (Thomas, of course!), and the 100 trains, which explained why i hadn't heard a sound from him since we came in from outside! They told me Riley had spend the better part of the two hours since we left playing quietly with the train set. When i told Riley it was late and time to go, a demon was unleashed! I've never heard Riley throw such a tantrum! He would have stayed with that train set all night long if we'd let him, forgetting food and sleep! We carried him (kicking and screaming and trying desperately to bite and scratch) down the stairs and tried to get his shoes on, while he kept pulling them off. Eventually we made it home, and finally got the kids in bed (2 hours late!).
It took the kids forever to finally settle, so we played Dr. Mario on the Wii for a bit, but we were both so exhausted we went to bed soon after, listening to the kids chatter away downstairs as we fell asleep.
All in all, an awesome day. (And i'm still thinking about that dinner at Jo's!!)
